This entry is for the whole weekend of the 14/15 June and I have put it under windsurfing even though my venture out on the water was a disaster !!!
We were down in the area to pick Rob(our son) from Southampton Uni and camped 2 night in the New Forest.Saturday included a mega walk in the woods seeing deer and loads of foals then after meeting Rob we headed to Poole with the aim of me to windsurf around Brownsea Island and Rob to kite and then to pick up an F2 wave board I bought from ebay months ago for £50.It started well enough finding a good parking spot near the kite beach.Rob sets up his 13m Waroo and I rigged 9.4 on the Cat after walking out miles to find some deep water,I sailed for a half mile before my mast broke !!!! another long walk back - rather p...ed off with much throwing gear about !!! the moral of this story is don't drive 240 miles to sail with only one mast !!! Time for tea and cake to calm down then I waded out to take some video/pics of Rob who is going great on his kite even though it was busy with up to 20 kiters out !!!! I had a go and discovered I was as crap at this as the last time I tried,2 years ago!!! but the wind had gone light.
Sunday included another walk in the forest starting at 5.30 in the morning followed by breakfast at Lepe Beach. Then on to Fawley to buy a mast-in fact I liked them so much I got 2-whats £300 !!!! Then we pick up Rob and his stuff from Uni and headed for Hill Head, one of his kiteing spots. The wind was light but at 5.30 a breeze filled in (18 mph) So within 10 mins 6 kiters and a couple of windsurfers were out but sadly the wind disappeared as quickly as it arrived but thankfully everyone made it safely back to the beach.Mag and I went for a walk and saw the van of our dream a VW T5 transporter (kombi style)in a wonderful blue,we had a word with the owner and discovered it cost £25 Grand so we will continue to dream !!! Then fish and chip and home by midnight a really great weekend - apart from the mast.
We are on holiday next week and are not sure whether to go back to the New Forest or head for Ynyslas,we will check the forcast at the end of the week.
